CURRYING FAVOUR: A restaurant owner hopes to cook up a storm and be named the best Indian restaurant in the region.

Muhammed Ali Malik’s restaurant Mr Maliks in Newcastle has been nominated by customers for the British Curry Awards

 

The chef, who has 20 years’ experience, is now planning the dishes he will serve up to a panel of judges if he gets shortlisted for the national competition.

 

The 38-year-old, above, opened the venue off London Road last year after running a takeaway in Chesterton.

He said: “I think we have been nominated because people like our food.

 

“We don’t use artificial colouring like a lot of other restaurants. We are more authentic and fresh.

“It’s like a puzzle, if you do everything right you can’t go wrong and it helps that all of the staff are very passionate.
